WELCOME TO THE CITY OF TUKWILA

Tukwila lies in the heart of the Puget Sound region, sitting 12 miles south of downtown Seattle, 17 miles north of downtown Tacoma, just east of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and at the crossroads of two major interstate highways, I-5 and I-405. Its central location makes Tukwila an ideal site for approximately 2,000 businesses. Tukwila (whose name in local Native American dialect means "land where the hazelnuts grow") encompasses single and multi-family residences, heavy and light manufacturing, and service-oriented companies, as well as one of the Northwest's largest concentrations of retail businesses.

Foster The foster community follows the Green River where you will find a great golf course (Foster Golf Links) several beautiful parks to include Fort Dent where you might see the Seattle Sounders practicing for their next game.  The community swimming pool and public library is certainly a great asset for the kids.

Thorndyke - Thorndyke was named after George and Bessie Thorndike, who settled in the area in 1905.  This area is in the heart of everything; the new light rail system just opened here and is ready to take you into Seattle or maybe a quick drive to the new Westfield Mall for some shopping. A elementary school (Thorndyke Elementary) was built in 2000 and city hall is just down the street.

Allen Town - is a neighborhood of Tukwila on the Duwamish River. It is situated between the Rainier View neighborhood of Seattle and the Boulevard Park neighborhood of unincorporated King County. This little peninsula is the home to the Tukwila Community Center and just a few minutes to I-5 and Hwy 599.
